Bridlington Art Society programme  











Our programme covers a wide range of subjects and mediums.The evening meetings have either a well-known artist to demonstrate, or an in-house workshop run by members.


Our evening meetings are held on the first Friday of the month (except August), 7pm to 9pm at North Bridlington library.  The library has its own car park and an excellent purpose built meeting room with audio and visual equipment.

Demonstrations are displayed on a large screen and the demonstrators words are amplified .  

Meetings are open to non-members, and visitors are most welcome, so please come along. pay £5 which is refundable when you join.

 We also hold some Saturday workshops at the same venue. These are held from 10am to 3pm.

7th July   Elizabeth Nast     

Elizabeth will be demonstrating an urban scene, focusing on people and giving us a talk on her take on watercolours.


4th August        A Drawing/Sketching Competition! (NOT THE LIBRARY)

PRIZE  for the winner! The evening starts a 7pm in Sewerby park and then at 9pm we will pop along to the Local pub for light refreshment, voting & presentation  £3.00 entry will contribute to the cost of a few nibbles.


1st September    Stephen Carvill Artist/sculptor

A pro active drawing evening   bring your sketch pads, pencils. coloured pencils or charcoal for a fun filled evening of drawing. or if you just would like to watch that fine too! Steve will give us plenty of advice, tips on how to improve your drawing.


6th October       John Harrison           

John is going to demonstrate his individual style of pen & wash also give advise on creating strong drawings to bring out light also dark shadows in your painting tips on all mediums!


3rd November      Vivienne Stanford                       Local textile Artist

Vivienne will take us through how she creates her work using pieces of sea cloths found along our shores , using a slide show to encourage & inspire  She has some fantastic work inspired by three sailing ships- captain Cook "Resolution" captain Colbeck's "Morning" captain Scott's  "Discovery"


1st December       Heather Burton

Heather will give some useful tips on buying also using acrylics, the effects that can be achieved using different types of  knives. she is a member of the RSMA, A professional member of the SAA having produced demonstration videos


5th January 2018      New Year Social ~CHAT WINE N NIBBLES

Also  A fun quiz & also a Video!  it was very good last year! Great to just get back to normality after the Christmas Break


2nd February         SUE FORD             

Sue is an excellent experienced artist also a qualified teacher ! we are all happy that Sue agreed to do this demonstration for us ! She will give us some really helpful advice on various media. Sue has said she will give us tips on how to use Pastels within our paintings .


2nd March             John Nayor           

Have a look on Johns web site you will then be really wanting to join this one! wildlife artist using pastel John will take use through what colours he likes to use , giving some useful  tips along the way.


 6th April             PAT TALBOT-Greaves

Paul will be working in watercolours also acrylics  he will also give us some tips on why we need contrast in our paintings! Paul was Awarded best in show at Holmfirth Art WK He has links to Artist & Illustrators magazine .


4th May

A.G.M  followed by Critique of members work - You are invited to bring up to 2 pictures to be evaluated by a local ARTIST

This event always seems to be well attended remember you can also sign up to pay for your membership for our Next years membership .
