Bridlington Art Society Programme


Our programme covers a wide range of subjects and mediums.The evening

meetings have either a well-known artist to demonstrate, or an

in-house workshop run by members.


Our evening meetings are held on the first Friday of the month (except

August), 7pm to 9pm at North Bridlington library.  The library

has its own car park and an excellent purpose built meeting room

with audio and visual equipment. Demonstartions are displayed on a large

screen and the demonstrators words are amplified.


Meetings are open to non-members, and visitors are most welcome,

so please come along. pay £5 which is refundable when you join.

We also hold some Saturday workshops at the same venue. These

are held from 10am to 3pm.

 6th April             PAT TALBOT-Greaves

Paul will be working in watercolours also acrylics  he will also give us some tips on why we need contrast in our paintings! Paul was Awarded best in show at Holmfirth Art WK He has links to Artist & Illustrators magazine .


4th May

A.G.M  followed by Critique of members work - You are invited to bring up to 2 pictures to be evaluated by a local ARTIST

This event always seems to be well attended remember you can also sign up to pay for your membership for our Next years membership .

"Special Artwaves Fringe Event" Hosted by Bridlington Art Society!

1st JUNE 2018                    

Delia Prudence                                    


Delia is a self-taught and very versatile artist who paints in oil, pastels, acrylics and watercolour. Her speciality is pet and human portraits with special focus on the eyes. She also enjoys and produces some wonderful botanical, still life and landscape paintings! Tonight she will be demonstrating her methods of working using watercolour.

6th JULY 2018                              

Wendy Tate                                        

Wendy works in various media including video, painting and a variety of printing techniques. This evening she will demonstrate mono printing, which you can later try at home. Prints can be free, spontaneous, full of life and translucency. The process can be done with or without a press and although printing ink is ideal, standard acrylic or oil paint can also produce excellent results.

3rd AUGUST 2018      

A Summer's Evening of Drawing, Sketching, Painting / Social Gathering

Members and guests are invited to meet at 7.00 pm outside the Church at Boynton for an evening of sketching, drawing or painting. Although an informal "Fun evening", there will be a small prize for the best effort! At around 9.00pm, we will then meet in a private room at the Ship Inn, Quay Road Bridlington. Guests / friends of members are welcome to join us at any point in the evening but there will be £3.00 entry fee to cover the cost of a few nibbles at the pub. 

7th SEPTEMBER  2018              

Bruce Mulcahy                         

A quick glance at Bruce's web site will soon confirm that he is a very experienced and well respected painter and demonstrator. He holds a fine arts degree and has exhibited extensively including the Mall galleries. On this occasion he will be demonstrating a harbour scene using oils and discussing the use of gouache

5th  OCTOBER 2018

Sue Slack

Back by popular demand! Sue will again be painting upside down. However this year, for those members who would like to, there is the opportunity to bring their own choice of drawing / colouring equipment (Not paint) and a landscape photo and try the technique for themselves.


2nd NOVEMBER   2018            

Jenny Morton                                      

Jenny is an internationally recognised ceramist and she has recently opened a new gallery and workshop in Bridlington old town! This evening she will be describing her work from initial drawing to 3D work in clay and porcelain. She has kindly offered a limited number of lucky people to join one of her workshops names will be "Drawn out of a hat" to decide the lucky winners!


7th DECEMBER  2018               

Christmas Social,

A relaxing evening.  A chance to meet everyone and enjoy a fun quiz, the chance to do a little drawing / sketching or just watch an instructional video. Nibbles and refreshments provided.               


4th JANUARY 2019             

Maggie Moore              

Maggie is a wonderful figurative artist who specialises in drawing and painting animals in a lively style. She is also well known for painting mythical subjects in acrylic. Tonight she will be discussing her methods of work but demonstrating her technique using charcoal and bread!

1st FEBRUARY 2019                 

Loraine Walker                                  

Loraine is an experienced artist and teacher. Not only does he work using popular media, she works with a variety of other materials including silk painting and batik. Tonight her demonstration and talk will describe her creative process. She likes her work to be "Bright and Cheerful" and her aim is to leave the viewer feeling happy and inspired. Her recent work has been themed on her childhood memories and the Beatles.

1st MARCH  2019                        

Steve Carvill            

Steve is a widely respected artist / sculpturist and probably best known locallyfor his harbour top creation "The Gansey Girl". Tonight, he has kindly agreed to run a "DRAWING WORKSHOP". He will set up a simple still life and give us useful drawing tips. Please bring your materials with you. (Pencils, pastels, charcoal / paper card board or whatever! A chance to practise your skills with plenty of useful tips from a very experienced artist!

5th APRIL 2018                          

Sara Semple                                              

A respected Scarborough based artist and experienced teacher who, using a power point presentation, will explain her working methods and give a demonstration on the use of alcohol based inks. This promises to be a very interesting evening. ...full of vibrant colour and ... possibly alcohol fumes!

3rd MAY 2018                           


After an informative update on the progress of the Art Society, there will be refreshments and a short film show.
